Brian Monihan

Brian Monihan is a veteran sports media leader who has nearly four decades of sales and management experience.
From 2009 - 2023, Monihan served as president and general manager of NBC Sports Philadelphia, a Comcast NBCUniversal network and official partner of the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL), Flyers (NHL), Phillies (MLB), 76ers (NBA) and Wings (NLL). In this role, he oversaw all aspects of the region’s sports media leader, including content, sales, production, finance and marketing. Monihan also led the network’s team partnerships, including media rights management.
Throughout his tenure with NBC Sports Philadelphia, Monihan led the network’s evolution from a cable television network – then known as Comcast SportsNet – into a comprehensive multiplatform sports entertainment organization and one of the most-watched regional sports networks in the nation.
Prior to joining NBC, Monihan spent nearly a decade as vice president of sales for Comcast-Spectacor where he was responsible for advertising revenue across the company’s portfolio including Comcast SportsNet, venues Wachovia Center, Wachovia Spectrum and Flyers Skate Zones, and teams, such as the Flyers and 76ers, Monihan also served as general sales manager and local sales manager with PHL 17 (WPHL-TV). Monihan began his professional career in New York, gaining experience with MMT Sales and Seltel.
A Pennsylvania native, Monihan is a graduate of Boston College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and communications. He resides in New Jersey with his family and is an active member of the community, serving as a longtime board member for Special Olympic Philadelphia, the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Advertising Club.
